Content MarketingIn today’s digital age, content marketing is more relevant now than ever. While product and service marketing are usually a business’ main concern, content marketing is just as significant and impactful in reaching your audience. Think about your company’s content marketing goals. Are you trying to generate leads? Raise awareness? Boost brand reputation and loyalty? Understanding why you should invest in content marketing is an essential part in creating your marketing strategy.

Why is Content Marketing Important?

Producing content is a method of organic audience building and shows clients and consultants why they should trust you and your services. You want to create a brand where people want to follow and look forward to your posts. Content marketing is integral in producing material that your audience can trust and relate to. If you are constantly writing content relevant to your industry, it shows your audience that you are knowledgeable, invested, and trustworthy. It demonstrates your commitment to the industry and your customers and shows that you are not only selling a product or service – but that you are selling a story as well. As an effective, inexpensive marketing solution, content marketing helps to boost traffic, reputation, and ROI, and fosters strong customer relationships.

Most Successful Types of Content

There are many different types of content marketing techniques, but consider conducting prior research to know what works best for your target audience. However, here are a few types that are known to be successful:

  1. Blogs – Blogs are a great way to drive traffic to your website and generate leads. Through writing blogs, your company can demonstrate its knowledge in the industry and show the value that it can bring to clients and consultants. Search engine optimization (SEO) is a must when creating blogs to ensure that your company is found for keywords relating to your field. SEO drives organic traffic from search engines, inbound links, etc. allowing for your company’s blog to show up in searches and attract your target audience.
  2. Case Studies & e-Books – Both are highly informational and show your expertise in the industry. Case studies tell a story and demonstrate how your company helped a client or consultant to succeed and shows the value that your business provides. While e-Books also provide value, they go into further explanation of knowledge and topics that a client can improve on. Both discuss quality solutions for a business and make your company appear credible with a proven track record.
  3. Social Media Posts – In the world of social media, it is imperative for any business to have active accounts on it today. Posting on social media opens your company up to a whole world of potential clients and paves the way for engagement. Whether you are promoting your services, webinars, success stories, or events or posting repurposed content, it is a great way to show you are up-to-date and relatable. Companies can generate leads through posts and engage via shares, likes, and comments.
  4. Memes – Today’s generation created the start of memes and many businesses have picked up on the trend on social media. A meme is a humorous piece of content that is relatable and shared rapidly on the Internet. Companies can use these to their advantage in creating their own memes that are relevant to their field, but relatable and comical as well. Memes are extremely popular nowadays and are the most sharable types of content. They capture the audience’s attention while ensuring viewers are engaged – making your business likable.

Planning Your Content

It is highly recommended that companies plan out their content in advance using an editorial calendar to organize their thoughts. This allows for productive planning, an organized schedule, and a creative content marketing strategy. There is a common misconception that a company should not post content more than once a day. However, that is not the case. For example, some think that sending out more than one post a day is overload. Yet, how would you feel if a person you were interested in only sent you one text a day? Now, how would you feel if they sent you multiple texts a day? The point is that creating content for your viewers shows you are invested and trustworthy. As long as you understand your target audience and adhere to their needs, they should look forward to seeing your content each day.

As someone once said, “content is king, but engagement is queen, and the lady rules the house”. Content marketing across all social media platforms is a great way to engage with your audience and develop strong mutually beneficial relationships. By creating blogs, social media posts, case studies, etc., it encourages your followers to interact with your company. Sometimes, you need to do more storytelling than selling to maximize brand awareness and provide value. Through the creation and sharing of content, you can encourage your viewers to engage with your company. Don’t just tell them why they should work with you – show them.
